Pakistan and Italy have decided to adopt a joint strategy to prevent the smuggling of archaeological artifacts. This decision was made following the increasing incidents of smuggling of valuable archaeological artifacts from Pakistan to European markets. For this purpose, some FIA officials from Pakistan will receive training in Italy on modern methods to prevent smuggling. In 2025 alone, the FIA reported the seizure of smuggled Gandhara and Buddhist artifacts worth more than 3.2 million dollars. Similarly, another group was also caught attempting to smuggle valuable artifacts to Europe via Dubai.
